Fortunately, in most cases it is too early to panic. The metal from which modern units are made has a certain plasticity and is able to return to its original state under proper influence. There are several time-tested methods that allow you to eliminate the defect yourself, without resorting to the services of expensive craftsmen.
Before taking active action, it is necessary to assess the scale of the disaster. Deep creases with damage to the paintwork require a more delicate approach or even a professional painting, while simple ones (indentations) are often removed in a matter of minutes. The main thing is to know the physics of the process and not to overdo it.
Damage assessment and surface preparation
The first step should always be a thorough diagnosis. Run your finger over the damaged area, trying to understand the depth and nature of the deformation. If the metal is simply bent inward, but has no sharp edges or cracks in the paint, the chances of success are close to one hundred percent. However, if enamel cracked, you first need to take care of protecting the metal from corrosion, otherwise, after leveling, rust will appear very quickly.
It is important to understand what material you are dealing with. The doors of modern refrigerators are often covered not with pure metal, but with a polymer layer, or can even be made of plastic with metal imitation. For such surfaces, aggressive methods such as heating with an open flame or strong impacts are strictly contraindicated, since the material can simply melt or change color.

Do not hold the hair dryer for too long at one point, so as not to damage the paint, move it in a circular motion. The metal should become hot, but not red-hot.
After reaching the maximum temperature, sharply cool the area. If using a can, turn it upside down and spray directly into the center of the dent. A sharp compression of the gas will cause an instantaneous drop in temperature. A characteristic click is often heard and the metal snaps into place.
